C'est en 1975 qu'un ancien roadie de Jimi HENDRIX nommé Lemmy KILMISTER décida de former son propre groupe BASTARD, après avoir été viré des HAWKWIND. Le manager de Lemmy l'incita à changer le nom de BASTARD car celui ci pouvait compromettre la carrière du groupe. Ce fut MOTÖRHEAD qui fut choisi. Lemmy se chargeait de la basse et du chant et engagea Lucas FOX à la batterie et Larry WALLACE à la guitare.
